Hello... come in, sit down. Make yourself at home.
Wilbur has come home from the Vet in much better shape than when he went in. He even came home and had a feed from mum! We'll feed him from mum 2 hourly overnight and see how he is in the morning. If he doesn't start putting on weight, he'll have to be tube fed, but we won't go there just yet!
His show name is: Ceedacharmin Mr Ed (Pet name Wilbur) The 1st born is: Ceedacharmin CalvinKlein (Pet name Calvin) and the 4th one is: Ceedacharmin Hugo Boss (Pet name Hugo).
If we keep one, it will probably be Hugo. See how he goes in the show ring!
Occasionally I get unsolicited messages on my Yahoo Instant Messenger thing. Usually it's some idiot saying: 'hello' or 'hi', which I completely ignore, because really, that is just soooooo a waste of my time. So anyway, I am working away here, minding my own business, when I get this message from 'x' who shall be known forthwith as 'SillyGirl'. The first message said "helo". The second said "hello". The third went like this:
Chris : oh... have you been to visit Ozpugs?
SillyGirl: nope not yet
Chris : It's a good site: www.ozpugs.com
A forum for pug owners... I thought that's where you might have got my YIM name from?
SillyGirl: wno [sic] went to yahoo and searched for pug
SillyGirl: i just got my pug the day after thanksgiving
Chris : Wow...you must be in America then, by the sounds of that! When is thanksgiving? Is your pug a boy or girl? Puppy or adult?
SillyGirl: girl, she's 4 years old
Chris : Oh, sorry, you already said that!
Chris : What's her name?
SillyGirl: [Name removed to protect the innocent]
Chris : Cute! Have you had a pug before? Is she a 'rescue' ?
SillyGirl: one sec brb
SillyGirl: sorry phone call
SillyGirl: never had a pug before
Chris : They take a bit of getting used to! They can be rather naughty and stubborn- but are completely loyal!
SillyGirl: not a rescue, i was looking around for pugs and just came across this one gentleman who was looking for a good home for his pug, he had a bunch of pugs and wanted a good home for her
Chris : Oh... was he a breeder? Sometimes breeders who show need to find homes for the one's who have retired from the show ring...
SillyGirl: he was a breeder
SillyGirl: and she is possible pregnant now
SillyGirl: lol if she is he wants one
Chris : Really?
SillyGirl: it would be his male
Chris : Make sure you are prepared to have a caesarian (lots of $$$) and about 4 weeks off
SillyGirl: she is a really good momma
SillyGirl: she hasn't had a litter in 3 cycles
Chris : Is she registered with the canine council (or your equivalent?)
SillyGirl: yes she is
SillyGirl: so is the male
Chris : Is she going back to the breeder to whelp?
SillyGirl: nope
Chris : Wow.
SillyGirl: breeder was 5 and a half hours away
Chris : And if he doesn't know if she's pregnant... he probably doesn't know the mating dates, either....
SillyGirl: nope
SillyGirl: but know approximates
Chris : Not very responsible for a breeder!
SillyGirl: he said it wasn't likely, but i've been to a few breeders houses and he's alot more responsible than the others i've seen, he has all of them in the house, and lots of attention and love
Chris : I guess so. Just hear soooooo many stories of 'backyard breeders' who don't do the right thing.... and just becasue he has them in the house doesn't mean he is a good breeder.... I am not saying that he's not either, he might be a very ethical breeder, BUT, to sell a 4 y.o bitch that 'may be pregnant' to someone with no experience in whelping (especially pugs, or brachycephalic breeds), and to not even know if she has mated (why were an undesexed male an female housed together?), really smacks of 'backyard breeding' to me. Sorry, but it's just my opinion and Backyard Breeders make my blood boil- there are WAY
SillyGirl: i've done a lot of research on this and I am prepared for whatever the situation may be. My fiancee's mother has knows about the whole thing, I've actually heard alot of good about the breeder.
SillyGirl: and he gave her to me for free, and told me to let me know on anything she needs
SillyGirl: for christmas he sent her medicine for fleas
Chris : Hmmmmm..... OK.... I think that is just helping my argument against him. No matter. What's done is done. I just hope to whoever that you don't perpetuate the Backyard Breeder cycle. But it seems like you are going to.
Medication for fleas? She came with fleas? Sheesh. It gets worse. What about heartworm, general worm treatment, rabies shots, annual vaccinations, and any UNFORSEEN health problems? One of ours scratched her eye on a bush and it cost over $1 000 to fix it!!! Please, do the right thing and have her desexed!
End of conversation. She was obviously unwilling to hear my message!
I have been online since I dropped Genevieve over to her friend's place at Midday. It's now a quarter to nine at night!
I have done ABSOLUTELY nothing! I had such good intentions, too.
I have, however, put some pics of me on my website. If you can find them, you can see them!
I am a little bit worried about one of the little pups. He seems like he has a pain in his belly or something like that. He drinks, but not very much, then falls asleep. I think I will have to take him to the Vet tomorrow if he is still not 'right'.
